Join us in one of these ultimate Lenten challenges: Lent It Up 2019! There are two different types of challenges for your to pick and customize!

Option #1: The Totally Yours Challenge

This is the ultimate Lenten challenge.

Rule #1 (and the only rule) Don’t do it alone. Make sure you have at least one or two other people doing it with you. Make sure your parents support you. Make sure you keep the Lord with you every moment of every day.

The challenge is to do all of the following:

  • 30 minutes of personal, private, quiet prayer daily without music

  • Daily Mass each day

  • Cold/lukewarm showers

  • No desserts or sweets

  • No snacking between meals

  • Nothing to drink except water

  • No television or movies (without permission of your accountability group)

  • No social media

  • No use of phone, tablets, computers or screens unless for work or school.

  • No TV shows or movies (without permission of your accountability group)

  • No talking about other people behind their backs.  If you do compliment somebody while they are not there, repeat it to their face.

  • Only music that lifts the soul to God.

  • Actively striving to make your D-Group better and be committed physically, mentally and spiritually.

  • No major material purchases or spending for yourself

  • At least seven hours of sleep each night.

Fish Fry: dates TBD 4:30pm-7pm. St. Albert Parish Center.

Soup Supper: Dates TBD 6:00pm-6:45pm @ St. Michael.

Passion of the Christ Movie in the St. Michael Youth Room: Good Friday, following the 3pm Service at St. Michael.

Living Stations of the Cross: Time and date TBD

Normal Stations of the Cross: Friday evenings at 7pm during Lent at St. Michael and St. Albert.  1:30pm on Tuesdays at St. Michael.

Divine Mercy Novena: Begins on Good Friday!

Option #2: The Three-Part Lent Challenge

(customize each of the three parts to what God is calling you to do this year!)

Part One: Prayer

  • Attend Mass on all Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and go to Confession at least once during Lent AND choose one or more from this list:

- Weekly Holy Hour in the Adoration Chapel. Information on the parish websites.

- Daily Mass (yes, every day!) Times and information on the parish websites.

- 20 minutes of daily, personal prayer

- Daily Scripture reading

- Daily Examen

- Have another idea?  Feel free to be creative!


Part two: fasting

- Give up social media

- Uninstall all your games from your phone/device

- Give up snacking in between meals

- Give up complaining

- Give up the snooze button

- Give up procrastination

- Give up secular music

- Give up music/radio/audio while driving in the car

- Have another idea?  Feel free to be creative!


Part three: Almsgiving

  • Go out of your way to help others, no matter what the personal cost AND choose one or more from this list:

- Get up early/stay up late in order to do a chore that someone else usually completes.  Do this frequently.

- Donate 10% of your money (or more) to those in need.

- Volunteer somewhere without being rewarded in any way (i.e. don't use these as documented service hours for school, etc.).

- Compliment everyone instead of gossiping about them.  (repeat the compliment to their face)
