THEOLOGY 101: Ad Majorem Dei Glorium
Theology 101 is an opportunity for High School youth to grow in their knowledge and understanding of our beautiful Catholic faith. We will be using the Catechism of the Catholic Church Scriptures as our main text. Our goal is to get through all four sections of the Catechism in four years. Every participant must do the reading and be prepared to discuss what was read. They will be tested throughout the year through asking questions, small quizzes, and a variety of challenges both individually and as a group. All will walk away from this class with a deeper knowledge of our faith, which hopefully will lead to a deeper love of Our Lord! This year we are studying the Prayer!
Any and all 9-12 graders wanting to grow and learn more about their Catholic Faith are invited to attend. Theology 101 is for teens who truly want to know their faith and are not afraid of a little homework. Theology 101 is not for teens who do not want to attend; teens must want to attend theology 101.
All new members are invited to an introductory class on Sunday Sept. 24th from 12-1:30 pm to receive a Catechism and go over the how Theology 101 works.
On Sunday’s, beginning Oct 8th from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Youth Room at St. Michael Catholic Church. Our last class will be ending on April 29th, 2018. For a complete, printable schedule, please click here!
What we will be doing:
12-12:30 Prayer and Time for questions about reading, possible quiz or competition.
12:30-1:30 Go through readings for that week
Theology 101 Goals:
1. All who attend will acquire a deeper knowledge of their faith so they can love Jesus and our Catholic faith more!
2. All will be able to give a reason for why they are a Catholic Christian. 1 Peter 3:15: “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope.”
3. Through our small groups, every teen will be strengthened and challenged to live as a son/daughter of God! Knowing they are not alone and have brothers and sisters striving to be Holy as they are themselves!
4. All will be empowered to be leaders in our Church, through sharing their faith, being active in our Youth Ministry, and being open to God’s call in their lives.
What must I do to sign up?
Before you sign up, please review the prerequisite information you need to have memorized for the first class. This may impact your decision to be a part of Theology 101. It is not our intention to scare you away, but we do expect all those who join Theology 101 to come with a basic knowledge of their faith and more importantly come with a strong desire to learn.
