Changes to 8th Grade D-Groups moving forward

New this year, we will be launching 8th Grade D-Groups in the Spring of 2023 (rather than the fall as in previous years). This change is being after careful evaluation and with the hope to set D Groups up for greater success in the future. A few points of the plan to note are:

  • 8th grade D Groups have been completely separated from our Confirmation Preparation.

  • We invite all 8th graders to participate in Alpha Youth during the Fall and Winter. This will allow our youth to hear and accept the Gospel message before moving into Discipleship groups. It will also give more time for teens to get to know one another and the adult leaders before officially forming D Groups in the Spring.

  • Discipleship groups are a choice to continue to share life and prayer, walking in discipleship, with a small group community through high school.

  • All 8th grade teens will be invited to join a D Group the Spring. D Groups will begin forming in February - March, 2023.

FAQS:

How are D-Group Leaders Chosen?

Group leaders/mentors are parishioners who are interviewed, trained and evaluated by the parish staff. In addition to the background checks and safety training which are a mandatory component of working with youth at our parishes, each of our leaders is a faithful, practicing Catholic who loves Jesus Christ and his Catholic Church and is excited about supporting parents in helping bring their teens closer to Christ!
